Inaugural Data Analytics Symposium a Success

EKU School of Business Inaugural Data Analytics Symposium

EKU's School of Business inaugural Data Analytics Symposium was held Friday, April 20th. Nearly every seat was occupied as approximately 40 industry professionals and more than 60 students entered Rogow Auditorium to explore best practices, gain insights from leaders and experts, and stay up to date on latest, cutting-edge information about business analytics.

College Dean Tom Erekson opened the Symposium at 8:00 a.m. The featured keynote speaker, Jonathan Beard, Senior Manager of Pricing and Revenue Management at Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Fla. Beard, earned his Bachelor's degree from EKU in 1987, and has been with Disney Parks & Resorts since 1998.

The half-day event also featured Ms. Shauna Leis and Mr. Preston Bakaric. Leis is Customer Service Operations manager for Amazon.com in Winchester, Ky., and Bakaric is Hardware Operations Manager at Lexmark International in Lexington. EKU School of Business students shared the stage, wrapping up the event with special project presentations and collaborative research initiatives. Student presenters included Jessica Miller, Dalton Stanley, Kevin Sawyer Ward, and Stacie Wallace.

Following the presentations, students and professionals were given the opportunity to share in a networking opportunity, held in Vice Atrium.

Dean Tom Erekson says EKU's School of Business has established it's stake in the ground as a data analytics institution and will now host the event annually.
