International Human Resource Management | FHWien der WKW
Foundation Professor Allen D. Engle represented Eastern Kentucky University as he traveled to Vienna, Austria on a three week trip over the past summer. He was invited to visit and teach at FHWien of WKW located in Vienna. Through networking at a conference with a Hungarian colleague, Dr. Engle was able to take advantage of this teaching opportunity. While there he taught two courses on International Human Resource Management in an undergraduate program, one was for full time day students and the other was for full time working students. Each class had around 30 students and he lectured for about 25 hours per course. Dr. Engle had previously taught at this school as visiting professor in 2017 and 2018.
The opportunity to teach abroad provided “the chance to learn more about the European educational system, the issues, concerns and capabilities of European undergraduate students, as well as reconnect with research colleagues in Vienna, Budapest and Berlin,” shared Dr. Engle. The FHWien is owned by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and has academic programs that started in communications as well as Marketing and Tourism. Over the years, the institution has offered a wide range of undergraduate business programs, including a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. The university provides holistic and practical academic training for currently over 2,800 Bachelor and Master students.
