Patterson Scholars Pack the Truck
The Patterson Scholars in Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Business have been busy giving back to the community during the fall semester. In response to the devastating flooding in eastern Kentucky during the summer, the Patterson Scholars hosted a donation drive during Homecoming week to collect critical supplies for victims in Knott County, Kentucky. Their efforts culminated this week in the delivery of over 100 bags and boxes of needed winter clothes, household items, as well as several pieces of furniture to the Knott County Central High School Family Resource Center.
“The resource center staff will be able to get these items to local families who have critical needs to be met,” said Tyler Caviness, Patterson Scholarship Committee Chair. “There are so many families that still need supplies going into the winter months and I am very proud that our students were able to make this contribution. A special thank you goes out to the EKU community who donated items throughout the fall semester.”
The Patterson Scholarship was established in 1997 by Kermit and Opal Patterson, who both previously taught at Eastern Kentucky University, Kermit, specifically, in the School of Business.
