Redesigned MBA Program Welcomes Second Cohort
The School of Business at Eastern Kentucky University recently redesigned its Master of Business Administration program. The first cohort began the new program in fall 2018. Changes to the curriculum and structure of the MBA program include stackable certificates, earned as the students progress through the program; compressed eight-week courses; interdisciplinary curriculum; two, three, and four-year plans that allow working professionals to finish the degree at their own pace; and the elimination of specific pre-requisites courses for admission to the program.
Each cohort begins the MBA Experience with MBA 800, or “MBA Bootcamp”, which consists of three evening sessions prior to the start of the students’ first semester in the program. During the Bootcamp, students are introduced to technical topics and complete team-building activities. Joseph Delos Reyes, a student who attended the inaugural MBA Bootcamp in August of 2018, said: “It was very helpful to meet all of our professors and get the chance to spend a few days getting to know the rest of our cohort. I really enjoyed getting mini sessions with each professor so we could get a good understanding of what they are expecting in class.”
