Robles Receives 2017 Dyer Excellence in Teaching Award
EKU's School of Business is pleased to announce the recipient of the Thirteenth Annual Jack L. Dyer Excellence in Teaching Award. The recipient for 2016-17 is Dr. Marcel Robles, Professor of Corporate Communication and Technology in the Department of Management, Marketing and International Business.
Nominations for the award were made by the Department Chairs for AFIS and MMIB. Nominees were reviewed by a three-member Selection Committee based on evidence of excellent classroom instruction. They also considered factors such as peer review of instruction, student evaluations of teaching performance, curriculum development, teaching load, and innovative teaching methods.
The selection committee noted that Dr. Robles' teaching evaluations and peer reviews have been excellent. Furthermore, students noted that Dr. Robles was always approachable, took great interest in her students, and always held them to a high standard. Dr. Robles' teaching style facilitates critical thinking in her classes, and she received the EKU Critical Thinking Award in 2016.
Dr. Robles felt honored by her peers and commented, "While I began my teaching at EKU after Dr. Jack Dyer retired, I have heard so many wonderful comments about his love of teaching and students. Now, knowing Dr. Dyer and his wife Jerrilyn from church and social activities, I recognize this dedication to high quality education. They represent the heart of educating our future business leaders. I am in awe of Dr. Dyer’s continued commitment and love for EKU School of Business students, faculty, and staff. He is truly an inspiration for all of us!"
We are proud to have quality professors such as Dr. Robles and are pleased to recognize her for her efforts. The School of Business will formally recognize Dr. Robles during the annual Jack L. Dyer Excellence in Teaching Award Luncheon in August.
Congratulations to Dr. Marcel Robles for being selected as the recipient of the Jack L. Dyer Excellence in Teaching Award for 2016-17!
